Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 96 words. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed. While you have identified the main trend of increasing overweight rates, the description is incomplete. You have not provided a comprehensive summary of the data, and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence ('Italy and France are almost same in si'). To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed, including a clear overview and detailed comparisons of the data points provided in the graph. The current length significantly limits your ability to develop your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical structure. While there is an attempt at an introduction and an overview, the body paragraphs are underdeveloped and fragmented. The use of cohesive devices is minimal, and the abrupt ending of the text disrupts the flow of information. To reach a higher band, you should use linking words such as 'furthermore', 'in contrast', or 'consequently' to connect your ideas and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus. Proper paragraphing is essential for organizing your analysis of the data.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'increased' and 'lowest'. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'planned overweight rates' (the graph shows projections, not plans) and 'proportion overweight country'. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to data description, such as 'upward trend', 'projected figures', or 'significant growth'. Additionally, ensure that your word choices are precise and appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'The England was the second highest proportion overweight country' is grammatically incorrect (should be 'England had the second highest proportion of overweight people'). There are also issues with prepositions and articles, such as 'reach above to 70 percent'. Your sentence structures are relatively simple, and the incomplete sentence at the end demonstrates a lack of control. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
