Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified the main features of the graph, such as the USA's dominance and Korea's lower rates, the analysis is incomplete. You have not provided a comprehensive overview of the trends for all nine countries, and the response ends abruptly mid-sentence ('Eventually italy'). To achieve a higher band, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are addressed, provide a clear summary of the data, and reach the required length to allow for full development of the main features.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response shows some attempt at logical organization, such as an introduction and an overview. However, the abrupt ending and the lack of a concluding paragraph hinder the overall flow. Cohesive devices are used in a somewhat mechanical way (e.g., 'However', 'Although'), and the progression of ideas is interrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus and that ideas are linked smoothly throughout the entire report, rather than stopping mid-thought.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The range of vocabulary is limited and somewhat repetitive. You use basic terms like 'rose', 'increased', and 'measured'. While these are accurate, they do not demonstrate the flexibility or precision required for higher bands. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'quater' (spelling) and 'closed its projection', which is not a standard collocation in this context. To improve, try to incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data trends, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', or 'remained stable'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex structures, but there are frequent errors in punctuation and grammar. For example, there are missing spaces after periods (e.g., 'nations. The'), and issues with article usage ('the USA', 'the year 1980'). The sentence structure is often disjointed, and the incomplete final sentence makes it difficult to assess your control over complex grammar. Focus on proofreading for basic punctuation and ensuring that every sentence is complete and grammatically sound.
