Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task by identifying some trends, but it fails to provide a clear or accurate summary of the main features. The data interpretation is inconsistent; for example, the claim that the USA had a 'low proportion' in 1970 is not supported by the graph, and the figures cited for countries like Austria and Italy are imprecise. The response lacks a clear overview of the most significant trends, such as the general upward trajectory across all countries. The information is presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and the lack of accurate data reporting prevents a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inappropriate, such as the repetitive use of 'moreover' and 'in future'. The referencing is also unclear at times, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between countries. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the overall structure lacks the sophisticated flow required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive. Words like 'increase', 'overweight', and 'proportion' are used frequently without variation. There are several spelling errors, such as 'diffrent', 'thar', 'icreased', 'percennt', and 'austrailia'. Furthermore, the word choice is often imprecise, such as 'most increasing numbers' or 'same rate in overweighing'. To improve, you should focus on using a wider variety of synonyms and ensuring accurate spelling and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('it is shows', 'USA have'), tense usage ('it going upto'), and sentence structure. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with some errors in basic syntax. Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors across basic and complex structures prevents the response from reaching a higher band.
