Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all requirements of the task. You have identified the main trends and provided relevant data points to support your descriptions. The overview is clear and highlights the general upward trend across the countries. However, to reach a higher band, ensure that all comparisons are fully developed. For instance, while you mention the USA and Korea as the extremes, you could more explicitly contrast the growth rates of these countries with the more stable ones like Austria. The data is generally accurate, though ensure that the years and percentages are consistently linked to the specific countries mentioned in the graph.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'while', and 'the remaining countries' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping countries with similar trends more effectively. The referencing is generally clear, though some sentences could be better linked to improve the flow of information. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow throughout the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'drastically', 'fluctuation', and 'upward trend' appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'stated at' instead of 'started at' and 'reached at' instead of 'reached'. While you successfully use some less common items, the range is somewhat limited. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' and 'decrease' to avoid repetition and enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While many sentences are clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'increased most of the countries' (missing 'in'), 'in the 1970' (should be 'in the 1970s'), and 'overweight rate' (should be plural 'rates'). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage to improve the accuracy of your complex sentences.
