Student answer (Band 5.5)
The line graph illustrates past and future overweigh rates, Beside this it also describe a projected future overweigh rate in nine selected countries.
Overall, it is clear that USA has the highest overweight rate and England overweight rate is approximately around USA overweight rates compares to other other eight countries and korea has the lowest overweight rate. Another interesting fact is that there is fluctuation that each country has faced.
Firstly, USA started the project inn 1971 apparently from 50% and their is a sharp increase in the overweight rate sand last as 74 % in 2018.. After this, England began its project in 1990 with 48% and there is also a dramatical increase in the rate then it ends up at around 70%. in 2018 .However, Korea came at this field at the end but it also face profit in the overweight rates which was started from 25% and ends in 2018 with 35%.Italy project came into being at 1995 with 38% and last at 2018 with 43%
In contrasts, Canada, Spain, Australia, and France faced many ups and down in the overweight rates. As we can see Canada project started in 1994 with 495 and then there is a decrease in the rates and in the following years it started to increase. Therefore in Spain, it started with 42% in 1986 and it stared to increase but suddenly there is a little downfall in the trend but in the coming year it stared to rose again. In Australia, the project started with 39%. The project was going perfectly with upward trend but in 2006 there is a 3% desecre in the overweight rates but the trend went to upward later. In france there is a little increse then descrese later faced some fluctuation in the trend and end with 43%.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have identified the main features and provided a general overview, which is a positive step. However, the response lacks precision in reporting data. For example, you mention '495' for Canada, which is clearly a typo or misreading of the graph. Additionally, the description of trends is sometimes inaccurate or confusing, such as describing the rise in overweight rates as a 'profit'. To improve, ensure you accurately transcribe figures from the graph and focus on clear, objective comparisons rather than descriptive narratives. The overview is present but could be more concise and focused on the most significant trends across the nine countries.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused. Phrases like 'In contrasts' and 'Therefore in Spain' do not always logically connect the ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which country you are referring to in the later paragraphs. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'meanwhile', 'subsequently', 'in contrast to') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus to improve the overall flow of your argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are frequent errors in word choice and spelling that occasionally impede clarity. For example, you use 'overweigh' instead of 'overweight', 'dramatical' instead of 'dramatic', and 'stared to rose' instead of 'started to rise'. These errors suggest a lack of control over word forms and collocations. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise terminology for describing trends (e.g., 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable') and proofread carefully to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that distract from your analysis.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'USA have', 'each country have'), verb tense usage (e.g., 'last as 74%'), and article usage. Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent spacing and incorrect placement of full stops. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of grammatical errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent tense usage when describing past and projected data.
