Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the graph, such as the overall upward trend and specific data points for countries like the USA and Korea. However, the analysis is somewhat fragmented. While you identify the highest and lowest points, the comparison between countries is limited. To reach a higher band, ensure you group data more logically rather than listing individual country statistics in isolation. The overview is present but could be more detailed by mentioning the general range of the increases across the nine countries. Ensure that you clearly distinguish between past, present, and projected data as requested by the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'At the fleeting glance' and 'Moving ahead'. These phrases do not always fit the academic context of a data report. The logical progression between sentences is occasionally interrupted by the way data is presented, making the flow feel like a list of facts rather than a cohesive analysis. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words will help the ideas connect more smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors. For example, 'overweight was costed' is incorrect; 'costed' is not appropriate for describing percentages. Similarly, 'highest element' is not the standard way to describe a data point on a graph. You have a sufficient range to convey the basic information, but you need to focus on using more precise academic terminology, such as 'proportion', 'rate', 'trend', and 'fluctuation', to improve the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'percentage of overweight was increased' (passive voice error) and 'near about 40' (redundant phrasing). Some sentences lack articles or have incorrect preposition usage, such as 'in 2020, percentage of overweight was almost 70 in England'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
