Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response provides a clear overview of the main trends, noting the consistent upward trajectory across all countries and identifying the extremes (USA and Korea). You successfully selected and reported key features, such as the USA's high starting point and the general growth observed in all nations. However, the report lacks precision in some areas; for instance, the description of 'England projected were about at 68%' is grammatically awkward and lacks clarity regarding the timeline. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are clearly linked to their respective years and that comparisons between countries are more explicitly stated rather than just listed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'At a fleeting glance', and 'Moving further' to signal the progression of ideas. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by mechanical phrasing and some awkward transitions. For example, the phrase 'and so on' is too informal for an academic report. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'England projected were about at 68% and so on, Canada which finished estimated about 63%'. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will help the information flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'upward trajectory', 'sharp acceleration', and 'restrained growth pattern'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the data has been measured in percentage' (should be 'percentages') and 'finish significantly 43%' (should be 'finish at approximately 43%'). The use of 'crystal clear' is slightly too informal for an academic task. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure that your terminology for describing trends is consistently accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the quality of the writing. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('Austria experience a gradually rise'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing ('England projected were about at 68%'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of missing spaces after periods. To achieve a higher score, you need to demonstrate better control over complex structures and ensure that your sentences are grammatically sound, particularly when describing data points and trends.
