Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main trends and making comparisons between the nine countries. You have successfully grouped the countries into those with rapid growth and those with more moderate increases. However, the report lacks precision in data reporting. For example, stating America was at '35% in 1980' and then 'sharply grow in 2000' lacks specific data points for the intermediate years. Additionally, some data points are vague, such as 'near 2010' for Korea. To improve, ensure that every trend mentioned is supported by accurate figures from the graph to provide a more comprehensive summary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is generally clear. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For instance, the transition 'By contrast' is used to introduce a group of countries, but the contrast between the two groups is not strongly developed. Furthermore, some sentences lack logical flow, such as 'England had came from 38% to 68% in three decades.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. You rely heavily on basic verbs like 'grow', 'climb', and 'incline', often with incorrect word forms (e.g., 'overweight rates has grows', 'had a large increases growth rate'). There is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise verbs and nouns related to data trends, such as 'surged', 'fluctuated', 'a gradual rise', or 'a significant upward trend', while ensuring correct grammatical word forms.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('rates has grows', 'America, England and Australia has rapidly grow') and tense usage ('England had came', 'Spain climbing'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage when describing past and future trends. Incorporating a wider range of complex structures, such as relative clauses or passive voice, would also help demonstrate better control over grammatical range.
