Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the graph, identifying the overall trend of growth across all countries. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. While you mention the start and end points for some countries, the comparison between countries is limited. You have grouped countries by their start dates, which is a good approach, but the description of the data lacks precision. For example, stating 'rocket rise' or 'jumping growth' is informal and imprecise. To reach a higher band, ensure you provide more accurate data points and clearer comparisons between the countries' rates of change, rather than just listing individual statistics.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For instance, 'Moreover' and 'Starting with' are used to transition between ideas, but the flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'Austria had a jumping growth through out the period whreas Spain had slightly growth and have 65 and 55 percent respectively in 2020.' The connection between the countries and their respective data points is sometimes confusing, which hinders the logical progression of the information.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for a higher band. You rely on informal or non-standard phrasing such as 'rocket rise', 'new joinies', and 'escalate rose'. These choices are not appropriate for an academic report. There are also spelling errors like 'traks' (tracks), 'specialy' (especially), and 'whreas' (whereas). To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise verbs to describe trends, such as 'significant increase', 'gradual growth', or 'a sharp rise'. Expanding your range of vocabulary will help you convey information more professionally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('their is significant growth', 'their where almost 45 percent'), incorrect word forms ('slightly growth' instead of 'slight growth'), and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple or compound, with limited attempts at complex structures. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic errors like 'their/there' and ensuring consistent verb tenses when describing past and future data.
