Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response identifies some main features, such as the upward trend and the USA's leading position. However, the analysis is superficial and lacks a clear overview of the data. The description of the trends is often imprecise, for example, stating 'all countries are stable' in 2000, which is not supported by the graph. Furthermore, the report fails to effectively compare the countries, often listing them individually rather than grouping them by shared trends or significant differences. The lack of specific data points or clear time-frame references makes the summary less informative.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The introduction is vague, and the body paragraphs lack clear topic sentences or a logical flow. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and repetitive way, such as the frequent use of 'which is' and 'which makes it'. Referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between countries. The overall structure feels like a list of observations rather than a cohesive report.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'increase', 'rates', and 'countries'. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'Fewer countries fluctuation' and 'France and Australia are least rates'. The phrasing is often awkward, which occasionally impedes the clarity of the information. To improve, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'climb', 'plateau', or 'significant growth', and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('USA have', 'only England and USA are only country'), missing articles, and incorrect sentence structures. Complex sentences are attempted but are often faulty, such as 'USA have notable increase after 1980 to 2020 , which is more than 70% , which makes it leading compare to other countries.' These errors are persistent and sometimes make the meaning difficult to grasp. A greater focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement is necessary.
