Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to provide a clear overview of the main trends. The information is presented as a list of individual data points rather than a synthesis of the graph's features. Several figures are inaccurate or poorly described (e.g., 'the first country USA is the high in the projection'), and the report lacks a coherent comparison of the nine countries. The response focuses on listing numbers rather than identifying significant patterns, such as the general upward trend across all nations. To improve, you must group data logically and highlight the most significant changes or similarities rather than describing every country in isolation.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks logical progression. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the sentences within the paragraphs are disjointed and repetitive. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and often inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'in the year' and 'is stand on'. The lack of linking words makes the text feel like a series of disconnected statements rather than a cohesive report. To improve, use a wider variety of transition signals (e.g., 'in contrast', 'similarly', 'meanwhile') and ensure that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one to create a clear narrative.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often misused. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'illiterate' instead of 'illustrate', 'the high' instead of 'the highest', and 'is run in' or 'is stand on' which are not standard English. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends accurately, relying on basic verbs like 'is' or 'increase'. To reach a higher band, you need to use more precise terminology for describing graphs, such as 'fluctuated', 'peaked', 'remained stable', or 'showed a steady growth', and avoid repeating the same basic sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede clarity. There is a lack of control over basic sentence structures, with many sentences missing articles, using incorrect prepositions, or failing to use correct verb tenses (e.g., 'The Canada is up on the 50%'). Subject-verb agreement is also inconsistent. There is almost no attempt at complex sentence structures, and the existing simple sentences are frequently flawed. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct use of articles, and practicing the correct tense for describing past and projected data.
