Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the graph, the analysis is superficial and contains factual inaccuracies regarding the data trends (e.g., claiming the USA increased by 10% each year, which is not supported by the graph). The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to fully satisfy the requirements of an Academic Task 1. To improve, ensure you carefully read the data points and provide a more comprehensive summary that highlights key trends and significant comparisons rather than listing individual country data points in isolation.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by the lack of effective cohesive devices. Transitions such as 'On the one hand' and 'on the other hand' are used, but they do not logically connect the contrasting information effectively in this context. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the progression of ideas feels mechanical rather than fluid. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that contributes to the overall summary of the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. You rely on basic verbs like 'increase' and 'remain' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'close up to 75%' and 'least in term of overweight category'. Furthermore, there are several errors in capitalization (e.g., 'england', 'usa', 'italy') and spelling (e.g., 'futhermore'). To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'fluctuate', 'plateau', or 'significant growth', and ensure proper noun capitalization.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Korea have least'), missing articles (e.g., 'In year 1970'), and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are predominantly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. When complex structures are attempted, they often contain errors, such as 'It expressed in percentage around 20 to 80 scale'. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, including correct verb tenses for past and future projections, and ensure that your sentences are grammatically complete.
