Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response effectively addresses the task by identifying the main trends and making relevant comparisons. You have clearly highlighted the USA as the highest and Korea as the lowest, while grouping other countries logically based on their trajectories. The overview is concise and captures the essence of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points mentioned are precise; for example, stating 'around 45%' for multiple countries in different years could be refined by referencing the specific start and end points more distinctly. Overall, the response is well-structured and covers all key features of the graph.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group countries by their trends. Cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'In terms of', and 'The remaining countries' are used effectively to guide the reader. Paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is smooth. To improve, ensure that referencing is consistent; for instance, the transition between the USA's specific data and the grouping of other countries could be slightly more fluid. Overall, the information is presented in a coherent manner.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey information with precision, using terms like 'proportion', 'fluctuating', and 'projected'. There is an awareness of style appropriate for an academic report. However, there are minor issues with capitalization (e.g., 'usa', 'italy') and some repetitive phrasing. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'increase' or 'rise' and ensure proper noun capitalization, which is essential for formal writing. The vocabulary used is generally accurate and fits the context well.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most sentences are error-free, and the meaning is always clear. There are some minor punctuation and capitalization errors, such as 'throught out' (spelling) and missing capital letters for countries. While these do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching the highest band. To improve, focus on proofreading for small mechanical errors and ensure that complex sentences are punctuated correctly to maintain a high level of grammatical control.
