The line graph below shows past and current overweight rates, as well as a projected future overweight rate in nine selected countries.

Summarise the infonnation by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrates the proportion of overweight people in nine selected OECD countries from the past to the present, along with projected figures for the future.

Overall, the proportion of overweight people increased in the most of the countries shown. The USA had the highest rates throughout the period, while Korea recorded lowest figures. Most countries are also expected to experience further increases in rates.

The USA had the highest overweight rate, rising from around 45% in 1980 to a projected 75% in 2020. England also increased steadily, from about 43% in 1990 to nearly 70% in 2020. Canada followed a similar trend, rising from approximately 48% to 64%.

Among the remaining countries, Spain increased from about 43% in the early 1990s to 55% in 2020, while Austria rose from 39% to 54%. Australia and France reached around 46% and 45% respectively. Italy showed a gradual rise to about 40%, whereas Korea remained the lowest, increasing from roughly 25% to 35%.
