Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The response attempts to summarise the data from the line graph, mentioning countries such as the USA, England, Australia, and Korea. However, the student has failed to meet the minimum word count of 150 words, coming in at only 136 words, which negatively impacts the completeness of the response. Furthermore, there are several inaccurate data interpretations; for example, the claim that Italy and Korea overweight percentages remain at 40 percent from 2000 to 2020 does not match the visual data. The overview is weak, lacking a clear, comprehensive summary of the overall trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text suffers from a lack of proper paragraphing, as it is presented as a single dense block of text. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'Additionally between 1980 and 1990 group of specifc countries...' and 'From thr graph we illustrate...'. While there is some basic progression of ideas from past to future, the logical flow is frequently disrupted by abrupt transitions and poor sentence linkage. Referencing is also occasionally unclear.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive ('overweight rates', 'percentage', 'countries'). There are several spelling mistakes and typographical errors throughout the text, including 'specifc', 'Austrlia', 'italy', 'overwight', and 'thr'. Attempts to use less common vocabulary are limited and often accompanied by word-choice errors, such as 'minimum overweight rates which goes from 40 to 50 percent', which causes confusion for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are missing articles ('Usually in 1970 USA is the only country...'), subject-verb agreement issues ('which include England and Australia'), and awkward phrasing ('rates which goes from'). Punctuation is also poorly handled, with missing spaces after commas (e.g., 'Austrlia ,France ,England'). These errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader.
