Task - 1

The illustrated line graph compares past, present and predicted proportions of overweight people in nine different ~~countri~~ OECD cantries from 1970 to 2020.

It is evident from the illustration that overweight rates are expected to increase in all countries over the ~~[obscured]~~ period. However, USA records the highest Percentage of overweight people through out the graph. By contrast, Korea has the least proportion of overweight people despite a steady increase. Moreover, among other countries canda is predicted to experience the most significant increase.

To begin with, the proportion of overweight people in USA was approximately 47% in 1970, which rose to 56% in 1990. Addically, by the year 2000 the percentage had surged to 61% ~~[obscured]~~ and by 2020 it had reached a maximum of 69%, thus recording the highest proportions throughout the time period. In contrast, Korea recorded a percentage of 20% in 1990 which rose to

30% by the year 2010. This proportion steadily surged to 35% by 2020. Therefore, it recorded the least proportion of overweight people. Moving on, Canada showed a notable increase with 50% in 1995 to 53% in 2000. This proportion further rose to 63% in 2010 and by 2020 it ~~reached a peake~~ peaked at 70%.

Although, the remaining countries also witnessed an upward trend. For instance the proportion in England and Spain rose from 30% in 1970 & 34% in 1987 to 65% in 2020 and 50% in 2020 respectively. Moving on, Austria and Italy remained at intermediate levels, reaching a maximum of 46% and 45% by 2020 respectively.
