The line graph below shows past and current overweight rates, as well as a projected future overweight rate in nine selected countries.

Summarise the infonnation by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph illustrate past and projected future overweight rates in nine selected OECD countries , measured as the proportion of the population that was overweight .

Overall , the USA had the highest rate throughout most of the period, and it is projected to remain the country with the highest proportion of overweight people in 2020. In contrast , Korea had the lowest figure , although its rate is also expected to increase . Most countries show an upward trend over time.

In the USA , the overweight rate was about 45% in 1970. It fell slightly to around 43% in 1980 , before rising steadily to approximately 52% in 1990 and 63% in 2000 . It is then projected to reach about 74% by 2020 . The UK also show a substantial increase , from roughly 48% in 19990 to 69% 2020 .

Canada experienced some fluctuations . Its rate reached nearly 58% around 2000, then decreased slightly before rising again to approximately 55% in 2020
