The line graph below shows past and current overweight rates, as well as a projected future overweight rate in nine selected countries.

Summarise the infonnation by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

The line graph below demonstrates the rate of growing obesity in 9 countries over a period of time

Since late 19s the rate of overweight had been growing for these 9 countries.It shows USA, England, Canada, Australia, Spain, Austria, Italy, France and Korea. Overall it shows the rate of overweight grew constantly for all the countries except Italy. The significant feature is that USA remains top of the list whereas Australia saw a huge spike in growth of obesity over a time period.

During 1970 to 1980 The rate for USA remained between 40% to 50% later since 1990s the numbers kept growing and growing up til now. Followed by England the graph depicts almost same numbers for england as USA. Canada saw a decline im rate during 1990 to 2000 but as tume passed thr rate of overweight fluctuated
