The line graph below shows past and current overweight rates, as well as a projected future overweight rate in nine selected countries.

Summarise the infonnation by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

The graph presents information related to past and projected future overweight rates from 1970 to 2020 in selected OECD countries which are nine in number.

Overall, The rates of all the selected countries are in increasing order. Among all the countries, USA had the largest proportion overweight over the period. Interestingly, Korea added near to 2000 in the selected countries list.

After 1970, USA was around 55% in overweight rates before lowered near to 40%. After that, it showed a significant growth and tipped at 74% in 2020. Austria added after USA, and it was just below the 40% but gradually increased and then desreased in 2010 to 43%. Subsequently, it increased to just above of 45%.

England started just after 1990 at 47% and then showed grdual increase with flucatuations and reached at near 70% in 2020. There are other countries, which shoed same growth.
