Past and projected future overweight rates in selected OECD countries
Student answer (Band 4.5)
The table illustrates the countris past and future overweight rates and the Usa was the first country that got overweight rates. Furthermore, there are total 9 countries where usa was on the hightest percentage which is almost 75%.
In addition, there are several countries that ended up to same year. However, korea was the solely country that started in after 1995 and ended up to 2020. England is the second top country with highest percentage that is almost 70%. In addition, Australia is the only country that gradually increased from 32% to 65%.
Therefore, there are two countries Australia and france that started with the same year and also ended up with the same year.
In addition, the overweight rate are flactuated by all countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, containing only 125 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is limited. While the student attempts to report some main features (such as identifying the USA and England as having the highest rates, and mentioning Australia), the overview is weak, and some statements are factually inaccurate or vague (e.g., claiming 'there are two countries Australia and france that started with the same year'). The graph type is also misidentified as a table. This impacts the overall task fulfilment significantly.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text is divided into four very short paragraphs, but the logical progression and overall arrangement are weak. Cohesive devices are used repetitively, particularly 'In addition,' which begins three consecutive sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the links between sentences do not form a cohesive or well-structured overview. Paragraphing is attempted, but the brevity of the response prevents effective organisation of information.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The lexical range is quite limited and basic. The student uses simple vocabulary and makes spelling and word choice errors, such as 'countris' instead of countries, 'Usa' for USA, 'hightest' for highest, 'solely' instead of sole, and 'flactuated' for fluctuated. While basic communication of some trends is attempted, these errors and the lack of precise data reporting restrict the lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response contains a mix of simple and coordinate structures, with very few successful complex sentences. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the overweight rate are flactuated'), incorrect prepositions ('started in after 1995'), and run-on sentences joined by coordinating conjunctions without proper punctuation. Punctuation and capitalization errors (e.g., 'france', 'usa') are also present throughout the text.
