Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You successfully covered all parts of the task by reporting the main features, trends, and comparisons across the nine countries from 1970 to 2020. You accurately highlighted that the USA had the highest proportion and Korea the lowest throughout the period. An effective overview was provided, summarizing the general upward trend and key extremes. However, some parts of your response are slightly under-developed; for example, grouping Spain, Austria, Canada, Italy, and France together resulted in a broad generalization rather than a detailed comparison of their individual trajectories. To reach a higher level, you could have selected and contrasted specific data points for these countries more precisely rather than grouping them into a single vague statement.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
Your response has a coherent overall arrangement and a clear logical progression from an introductory summary to specific body paragraphs detailing highest and lowest trends, followed by a comparative group. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group related information. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or slightly faulty, such as the transition phrase 'To compare,' which does not smoothly link the grouping of countries to the previous paragraph. Additionally, referencing could be improved, as phrases like 'After this' are slightly ambiguous regarding what time or trend they refer to. To achieve a higher band, you should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more flexibly and ensure that transitions between paragraphs flow naturally without sounding repetitive.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'contemporary', 'skyrocketed', and 'downfall'. However, there are several lexical errors and awkward word choices that prevent a higher score, such as writing 'lowest portion of overweight records' instead of 'proportion', 'every respective countries' where 'country' should be singular, and 'throughtout' which contains a spelling error. You also used phrases like 'stayed roughly 75%' where 'stood at' or 'projected to reach' would be more natural. To improve, focus on precise word choices, correct collocations related to data reporting, and careful proofreading to eliminate minor spelling and morphological slips.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms to describe past data and future projections, utilizing structures like 'where USA has the largest and Korea recorded lowest portion'. There is good control over basic tense structures, but your response contains several grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and missing articles. For instance, writing 'where USA has' instead of 'where the USA had', and 'predicted to stay' missing the auxiliary verb 'is predicted'. Punctuation and prepositions also need attention, such as 'between 2000 and 2010 but projected to increase'. To move up, you need to produce a higher frequency of error-free complex sentences and ensure accurate use of articles and tense consistency when mixing past data with future projections.
