Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the task by mentioning an overall increase in overweight rates and identifying extremes such as the USA and South Korea. However, the report only responds to the task minimally. Several data points cited in the text are inaccurate or misread compared to the visual data; for instance, the writer claims the USA was at 70% in 1970 when the chart shows it at 45%, and misplaces the relative positions of countries. Furthermore, there is no clear selection of the main trends or meaningful comparisons across the nine countries, leading to an underdeveloped and partially inaccurate summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The writing shows some organization with a basic introduction, body, and conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of information. Paragraphing is rudimentary and sentences are strung together with very basic or missing cohesive devices. Referencing is often unclear, such as shifting abruptly between countries and years without logical sequencing. While the text attempts an overall structure, the mechanical presentation and lack of clear transitional links prevent the ideas from flowing logically.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, utilizing restricted terms like "rate", "country", and "high" or "low" throughout the response. There are frequent spelling errors (such as "graphy", "coutries", "regaring", "amoung", "obsereved", "countroled") and awkward word choices ("secondly England on its peak", "South korea was lowest peak"). This limited range and frequent lexical inaccuracy cause strain for the reader and reflect a restricted vocabulary suitable for conveying only simple information.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple descriptive statements with frequent errors that distort meaning. There are multiple issues with subject-verb agreement and plurals, such as "Usa were at 70%", "other six coutries had low rate", and "the overweight rate were increased". Articles and prepositions are frequently misused or omitted, and punctuation is weak, including missing capitalization for proper nouns like "Usa" and "south korea". These frequent errors interrupt comprehension throughout the text.
