Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response attempts to address the task by outlining general trends and mentioning several countries such as the USA, England, and Italy. However, the coverage is limited and mechanical. While an overview is attempted ("the porportion of overwight people is expected to increase in most of the countires"), the body of the response lacks proper development and data reporting. Many statements are repetitive, confused, or factually inaccurate regarding the numbers provided in the graph. For instance, the text claims that Italy has the lowest rates while simultaneously making disjointed assertions about other countries having 42 or 44 percent. Furthermore, the response trails off abruptly at the end with an unfinished sentence ("Althrough this figure well."), meaning key comparisons between the data points are missing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The overall arrangement lacks clear logical progression and cohesion. The response is poorly paragraphed, running the introduction and body points together in a confusing manner without clear structural divisions. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, resulting in disjointed sentences that do not flow well together. For example, transitional phrases and referencing are weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparisons between countries. Furthermore, sentences are frequently abruptly stitched together or fragmented, creating a choppy structure that disrupts the logical sequencing of information across the report.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, featuring frequent spelling errors such as "slected", "coutries", "porportion", "overwight", "countires", "hihest", "approxmaitely", "remined", "althrough", "substantail", and "initailly". Word choices are often imprecise, and attempts to use less common vocabulary or exact numerical descriptors result in noticeable errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. While the writer manages to communicate the general topic of overweight rates, the persistent spelling mistakes and limited control over lexical items restrict the range and precision of the response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The grammar demonstrates a very limited range of structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that contain frequent errors. There are notable issues with verb forms and tenses, such as the missing auxiliary in the opening sentence ("The line graph illustrate") and incomplete clauses ("US having approxmaitely 45 percent"). Punctuation and sentence boundaries are poorly handled, leading to run-on sentences and fragments like the incomplete concluding thought. These frequent errors in grammar and structure cause strain for the reader and impede clear communication throughout the task.
