Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

The response only minimally addresses the task requirements and falls significantly short of the 150-word minimum, containing only 95 words. While you attempt to report a few main features, such as identifying the USA as having the highest proportion and Korea as the lowest, the information is presented in a fragmented manner. The overview is weak, and the response stops abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the data incomplete and the comparison underdeveloped. To improve, you must ensure you write at least 150 words, provide a clear overall summary of the main trends across the period, and select and report key data points accurately without cutting off.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

Information and ideas are not arranged in a fully coherent manner. Although you attempt an introductory sentence and an overview, the text lacks proper paragraphing and structural progression. The sentences feel disjointed rather than logically sequenced, and the abrupt ending in the final sentence severely disrupts the flow of the response. Furthermore, cohesive devices are largely absent, making it difficult for the reader to follow the transitions between different countries and time periods. To achieve a higher level, you should group related information into clear paragraphs, use effective referencing pronouns, and employ a variety of cohesive links to connect your ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You demonstrate a basic range of vocabulary adequate for describing data, using terms such as 'proportion', 'highest', 'lowest', and 'surpassed'. However, there are noticeable vocabulary and spelling errors, such as 'higgest' instead of 'highest' and 'porportion' instead of 'proportion'. The range of vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with frequent reliance on basic phrasing. To improve your lexical score, you need to use a wider variety of less common vocabulary and precise synonyms related to trends and statistics, while ensuring accurate spelling and word formation throughout your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response relies on a very limited range of sentence structures, mostly simple statements with frequent errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. There are issues with phrasing and grammatical patterns, such as 'that projected the past and future overweight rates' and 'compare to all other countries' instead of 'compared to'. Additionally, the incomplete final sentence demonstrates a lack of control over sentence completion. To improve your grammar score, you should practice forming complex sentences accurately, pay closer attention to prepositions and comparative structures, and ensure that every sentence is fully completed with correct punctuation.
