Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the overall leaders and the broad upward pattern, noting that the USA dipped before rising to about 74% and that Korea remained lowest at roughly 35%. These are relevant features. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: England is not consistently the second-highest country across the period, and Canada and Spain do not maintain the same rate for several years in the way your overview suggests. The 2020 comparison of Austria, France and Italy is also misreported: their figures are approximately 47%, 44% and 46%, rather than around 42%. The response covers several countries but gives limited attention to Canada and Austria and does not clearly distinguish past, current and projected data. Select the strongest comparisons and report them accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and two paragraphs of supporting details. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, progression within the body is not always clear: the discussion moves from the USA and Australia to England, then Spain, France, Italy and Korea without a consistent grouping by level or trend. Linking is also sometimes mechanical or incomplete. For example, “While, Korea being at last” is not a complete contrast, and “In the same way” does not clearly explain the relationship between the countries that follow. Group countries by high, middle and low rates, and use transitions that show the precise comparison being made.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use a suitable range of task vocabulary, including “proportion,” “maintained,” “slight dip,” “increased rapidly” and “steady rise.” These choices help describe trends and comparisons, and the meaning is generally clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or awkward collocations and word forms, such as “highest overweight percentage,” “second largest country” when referring to a rate, and “experienced slight increase.” Spelling slips such as “courtry” and “throught” also reduce precision. Aim for more natural chart language and consistent use of terms such as “rate,” “proportion” and “figure.” For example, “the highest proportion of people who were overweight” is clearer than “highest overweight percentage.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “whereas” and “before,” and most of the main trends remain understandable. Some grammatical errors nevertheless make parts of the response awkward or incomplete. Examples include “While, Korea being at last,” which lacks a main clause, and “proportions of Austria, France and Italy was,” where the plural subject requires a plural verb. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention: “from around 33% in 1990 to roughly 64% in 2020.England” needs a space and clearer separation. Use complete sentences, check subject–verb agreement, and proofread punctuation. More accurate control of these structures would make your comparisons easier to follow.
