Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the countries and give a broad sense that the USA is highest and Korea lowest, which is relevant to the graph. However, the report only minimally summarises the main features: it does not clearly distinguish past, current and projected figures, and it gives little comparison across countries or explanation of overall trends. Several figures or trends are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the USA rises from about 45% to a projected 74%, rather than decreasing, and Canada ends near 55% after a generally modest rise, not an increase to 48% followed by a decrease. Australia is projected to about 64%, not 40%. A clearer overview and accurate selection of key changes would make the response more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, separates information into two paragraphs using “First of all” and “Secondly,” and ends with an overall statement. These features help the reader recognise the intended structure. However, the grouping into “first five” and “last four” is not explained and is confusing, especially because Australia appears in both lists. The country-by-country sequence also gives little sense of which trends are being compared, while repeated “And” links make the progression mechanical. Some sentences are difficult to follow because the figures and changes are not presented in a clear order. Group countries by high, middle and low rates, and use explicit comparisons to create a more logical progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “rates” and “future,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, with “show” and “about” used repeatedly instead of more precise language for describing data. Several word choices and collocations are unclear, such as “decrease the about the proportion” and “the last anfd low the country.” There are also spelling errors, including “alomost,” “proprotion” and “rhe,” which reduce clarity. Use a small set of accurate trend verbs and comparison phrases, such as “rose,” “remained stable,” “was higher than” and “was projected to reach,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts simple sentences and some longer structures, but grammatical control is weak and errors frequently make relationships between figures difficult to understand. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in examples such as “The line graph present” and “The England show.” Articles and sentence patterns are also often inaccurate, as in “the about number 46%” and “the increase 48%.” Tense and comparison structures are unclear in phrases such as “than decrease the future 69%,” making it hard to tell whether a figure rises or falls. Most sentences follow a similar basic pattern, with limited accurate variety. Practise complete subject–verb–object sentences and use consistent past and future forms when describing the graph.
