Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify several relevant overall features, including the USA’s high projected rate, Korea’s low position, and the rise of England and Australia. However, the response only partially summarises the graph because it repeatedly treats overweight rates as “projects” and does not clearly describe changes over time. Some comparisons are inaccurate: France, Italy and Austria do not finish at the same level (about 44%, 45.5% and 46.5%), while Spain and Canada are close but not exactly equal. The claim that the USA maintains first place “from beginning” is also unsupported, as its rate initially dips and the series do not all begin at the same time. Focus on the main trends and report comparisons precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview and two further paragraphs. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “Overall” and “In other hand” signal transitions. However, progression is limited because the final paragraph repeats rankings and groups countries by vague “projects” rather than developing a clear account of the data. Connections between ideas are sometimes unclear, as in “country like France, Italy and Austria are at the same point it is around 45 percent in where they take this journey.” Use a clearer sequence—overview first, then compare higher and lower rates—and make each paragraph serve a distinct purpose.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related terms, including “percent,” “position,” “beginning” and “end of the period,” so the topic is recognisable. However, vocabulary is basic and repetitive, and several inaccurate choices make the data difficult to interpret. “Overweight projects” and “do lots of projects” do not describe rates; use terms such as “proportions” or “figures.” “Take this journey” is an unsuitable metaphor for a trend, while “same point” is too vague for a comparison. Spelling errors such as “illustrstes,” “countrys,” “cleaar” and “respectivrly” also reduce clarity. Build a small set of accurate trend verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt a few longer structures, for example, “USA begin earlier and reach at the top … mantaning the 1st position,” and use linking clauses with “however.” Nevertheless, sentence structures are limited and errors are frequent, sometimes obscuring relationships between ideas. Examples include “USA begin” and “Korea joined … it is also the last,” where verb forms and clause connections are not controlled; “which are 2nd and 3rd which hold” also has unclear agreement and structure. Articles, plurals and punctuation are inconsistent, particularly in long sentences joined without clear boundaries. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled clauses such as “while” and “whereas.”
