Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad pattern of rising rates and correctly note that the USA is highest and Korea lowest by the end of the period. Several reported endpoints are also broadly accurate, including the USA at about 74% and France at 44%. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly compare the countries’ levels or highlight that the USA and Australia finish notably higher than most others. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: England begins around 47% in 1991, not 48% in 1990; France’s early movement is described as “very complex” without explaining its fluctuations; and Korea’s final figure is closer to 35%. The response reports selected data but leaves important trends underdeveloped, so make the overview more informative and support it with precise comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, an overall statement and a body that groups several countries together. This gives the reader a basic route through the information. However, the progression is mostly a sequence of country-by-country statements rather than a clearly organised comparison. The transition from the USA and England to Canada and Spain, then to Austria and Italy, is understandable but not based on an explicit grouping such as highest, middle and lowest rates. Linking is also sometimes awkward: “While Korea…” is left as a fragment, and “In the start” does not clearly connect the point to the preceding sentence. Organise the body into meaningful groups and use clear comparisons to make the progression smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “proportion overweight,” “projected,” “variation” and “linear increase,” and the main meaning is generally recoverable. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural for describing a graph. “Faced an incline” is not a natural way to report a rising rate, while “very complex variation” is vague and does not identify the actual fluctuations. “Attained the maximum value” also overstates France’s position, since it is not the highest country overall. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “ramained” and “amximum,” and the phrase “in the start” is not idiomatic. Choose precise trend verbs and check spelling and collocations to improve clarity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning can usually be followed. However, control of sentence structure and punctuation is uneven. The opening has misplaced commas in “rates ,as well as,” and “projected future” lacks a grammatical link such as “rates.” In “Canada proportion overweight also increased,” the possessive form is missing, while “In the start France faced…” has an unclear sentence structure. The final “While Korea remained…” is a dependent clause presented as a sentence, and several sentences run together without spaces after full stops. Use complete clauses, check articles and possessives, and punctuate each sentence clearly; this will make your range of structures more effective.
