Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify several relevant features, including the USA’s overall rise, the early dip, and Korea’s comparatively low starting point. However, the account is largely a sequence of brief country-by-country comments rather than a clear summary of the main patterns. Some details are inaccurate: the USA’s peak is about 74%, not 75%, and Spain’s noticeable dip occurs around 2003, not 2005. The claim that the USA had the highest rate “for all time” is also unsupported, since its line is not shown across the whole period and England reaches a similar level by 2019. Include a concise overview comparing the highest and lowest countries and the general upward trend, then select accurate supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

The response moves through several countries in a recognisable order, and phrases such as “After 1980” and “Furthermore” provide some links between points. However, the information is not arranged into clear paragraphs or grouped by meaningful comparisons, so the reader must follow a long run of country-by-country statements. Connections between ideas are sometimes unclear, and the conclusion repeats a claim about the USA rather than synthesising the graph’s main trends. Group countries with similar patterns or compare the highest and lowest rates, and use a separate overview paragraph. Clearer sentence boundaries and more precise referencing would also make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “proportion,” “gradually increased,” and “fluctuates,” so the general subject is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “highest” and “proportion.” There are also noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “delined,” “ilustrated,” “dramastically,” and “flactuates.” Some expressions are not natural for describing a graph, for example, “it lead country” and “only 25% population was noted as overweight.” Build a more precise set of trend verbs and comparison phrases, and check spelling and collocations so your descriptions sound clear and appropriately formal.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate many basic observations using simple clauses, and some longer sentences attempt to connect trends, for example, “After 1980, this rate was increased gradually and the highest was 75% in 2020.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors recur in verb forms, articles, and sentence construction. Examples include “it was declined,” “it shows similar lines,” and “only 25% population was noted,” where the verb pattern or article is missing or unsuitable. Several sentences also join multiple ideas without clear punctuation, such as the opening description of the USA. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and use controlled complex sentences with clear subjects and verbs.
