Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the graph’s subject and give a broad overview, correctly noting that the USA is highest and Korea lowest, with England also among the highest. However, the overview is incomplete: it does not clearly summarise the general upward trend across most countries or distinguish the projected figures from historical data. Several details are inaccurate or unclear. The USA reaches about 74%, not 75%, and Australia ends near 64%, rather than 62%. The claim that Spain “edge[s] ahead of Canada” is not supported by the figures, and the comparison is difficult to interpret. Some country trends are mentioned, but the response selects and reports the main features only partially. Focus on accurate key comparisons and a clear overall summary.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, overview and two body paragraphs, and it groups several countries together. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within the paragraphs is uneven: the first body paragraph moves from the USA and England to Australia, then Spain and Canada without explaining the comparison between them. Connectors such as “To begin with,” “However,” “moreover” and “To continue with” are sometimes mechanical or do not show the relationship between the data. The country-by-country information would be clearer if grouped by high, middle and low rates, with comparisons made explicitly. Use fewer formulaic transitions and ensure each sentence follows logically from the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “proportion,” “gradually increasing,” “slightly rose” and “recorded.” This shows an attempt to vary language rather than repeat only “went up.” However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations make the meaning unclear, such as “comes at the top among overweight rates countries,” “edge ahead of Canada from just one digit” and “extreme lower rate.” Spelling errors, including “engald,” “austrilia” and “proprtion,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, conventional expressions such as “had the highest proportion” and “remained the lowest.” Check country names and use “percentage” or “rate” consistently when reporting figures.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “However” and clauses describing changes over time. Nevertheless, grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “USA decline at first,” where the verb form is incorrect, and “in austrilia it finish,” which lacks correct agreement and tense. The sentence about Spain and Canada is also structurally unclear, while punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent throughout. Use past tense for historical data and future or projected language for forecasts, and check subject–verb agreement. Shorter, complete sentences would help you communicate comparisons accurately while you build control of more complex structures.
