Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify the graph’s subject and offer a broad overview: the USA is described as having the highest rates and Korea the lowest, which broadly matches the data. However, the response only minimally addresses the task: it gives no specific figures, dates, or detailed comparisons, and the claim that the other countries “did not even reached the half” is unclear and inaccurate for several countries, including Canada and Spain. The overview also does not clearly distinguish past from projected rates. The response is 89 words, below the required 150, leaving too little space to summarise the main trends. Include an overview and compare several countries using accurate figures and time periods.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic attempt to organise the response into an opening statement and an overview, and “overall” signals that the second paragraph summarises the main picture. However, the ideas do not progress into a developed account of the graph: there are no supporting details or comparisons after the overview. The connector “while” is used to join contrasting points, but the sentence beginning “while Korea…” is not properly integrated, and “however” introduces a contrast that is not clearly explained. Build a clear sequence: introduce the graph, give the main overview, then group and compare countries in separate detail paragraphs. Use linking words only where the relationship between ideas is clear.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a few relevant terms, including “proportion,” “projected,” and “overweight,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the vocabulary range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the account less clear, such as “prvious,” “recored,” “revorded,” and “figuers.” The phrase “second group of countries that recorded high figures” is vague, while “future overweight project” is not a natural way to describe projected rates. Use precise graph language such as “rate,” “percentage,” “rose,” and “was projected to reach,” and check spelling carefully. More varied, accurate terms would help you compare the countries rather than repeat general descriptions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “while Korea was and still the lowest proportion,” but control is weak and the sentence patterns are limited. Errors in verb forms and sentence construction occur in “the rest of the countries did not even reached,” where the verb after “did not” should be in its base form, and in “Korea was and still the lowest proportion,” which needs a clearer grammatical structure. The opening also lacks a complete, well-punctuated sentence, and commas are placed inconsistently. Practise accurate simple comparisons first, then combine them with clauses such as “whereas” or “while.” Check subject–verb structure, articles, and punctuation when editing.
