Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad pattern that the USA and England have the highest rates, and your estimates of England near 70% and Canada and Spain around 55% by 2020 are broadly supported by the graph. However, the response only minimally summarises the data: it gives no clear account of the historical changes and omits several important comparisons, including Australia’s substantial rise and Korea’s remaining the lowest. The claim that the USA, England and Canada are “leading clearly” overlooks that Australia is projected to reach about 64%, above Canada and Spain. Explanations about fast food and outdoor activities are not shown by the chart, and the claim that some countries are “consistent” is inaccurate. The response is also three words below the required minimum. Include a factual overview and select key trends and comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the chart, comments on groups of countries, and ends with a summary. Country names and phrases such as “also” and “however” provide some links between points. However, the ideas are not arranged into a clear overview followed by organised supporting details, and the final paragraph largely repeats the earlier claim that the USA, England and Canada lead. Several statements are difficult to connect logically, particularly the explanation about outdoor activities and the assertion that the graph is “consistent.” Use separate paragraphs for the main overview and selected comparisons, and connect each point explicitly to the relevant trend or figure.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “projected,” “rates,” “population,” and “growing phase,” so the reader can recognise the subject. However, the range is limited and several expressions are imprecise or unnatural for describing a graph: “leading by any other country,” “following the footprints,” and “in consistent” do not communicate comparisons clearly. “OW” is an unexplained abbreviation, while “fast food industry” and “outdoor activities” introduce unsupported explanations rather than describing the data. Spelling and word-form slips such as “probablity” and inconsistent capitalisation also reduce control. Prefer precise trend language such as “rose,” “remained lower,” and “was projected to reach,” and use the full term “overweight rate.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts a few longer structures, including “which is close to 70% population in OW by 2020,” but most sentences are short fragments or have faulty construction. For example, “The mentioned chart demonstrate” has subject–verb disagreement, and “USA leading” lacks a finite verb. The sentence beginning “Australia, Austria, italy & france have been in consistent” is also grammatically incomplete or malformed, making the intended meaning unclear. Articles and sentence boundaries are often missing, and capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent. These frequent errors limit clarity, although the general topic remains understandable. Practise complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use simple past or present forms consistently when reporting trends.
