Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the countries and report the broad upward direction in most of them, which is relevant to the graph. However, the response gives little clear overview of the main comparisons, and several figures are substantially inaccurate: Canada rises to about 55%, not above 70%, while the USA reaches roughly 74%, rather than being described only as between 70% and 80%. England ends near 69%, and Australia near 64%; these are broadly represented, but the starting points and changes are not consistently precise. The claim that Korea, Italy and Austria show “very little” increase overlooks their rises, especially Italy’s movement from about 37% to 46%. The speculation about population growth or health issues is not supported by the graph. Focus on accurate key trends and comparisons rather than causes not shown by the data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The response has a basic sequence, moving from the USA through the other countries, and phrases such as “Next” and “After that” help signal transitions. However, the repeated country-by-country openings make the report mechanical, and the information is not grouped into meaningful comparisons. There is no distinct overview to guide the reader toward the main pattern, such as the USA having the highest projected rate and Korea the lowest. Some links are unclear, for example “This that the England people's overweight,” and the final sentence repeats earlier information without developing a conclusion. Organise the report into an overview followed by paragraphs comparing higher-rate and lower-rate countries, and use references and linking phrases that clarify how each point relates to the previous one.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use relevant basic terms, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “increased,” and “growth rate,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, and several combinations are unnatural or imprecise, such as “the Canada overweight,” “there is huge percentage difference,” and “very little increased in growth proportion.” Spelling errors, including “proportin,” “propoertion,” “increasd,” and “aproximately,” also reduce clarity. Use a more controlled range of graph language and accurate collocations, for example “the proportion of people who were overweight,” “rose steadily,” and “recorded the lowest rate.” Avoid repeating “we see” and “overweight” in nearly every sentence; varied, precise wording would make the report clearer and more appropriate to an academic task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

Most sentences use simple subject–verb patterns, and the intended meaning can often be inferred, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make statements difficult to understand. Examples include “This graphs shows shows,” “This graph show,” and “the overweight is increased,” where agreement and verb forms are inaccurate. The sentence “This that the England people's overweight” is incomplete, while “There is very little increased” uses an incorrect structure. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together after country names. Practise accurate present and past forms for describing trends, such as “the rate increased” or “the rate rises,” and build complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs. A wider range of correctly controlled sentence patterns is also needed.
