Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad upward pattern and note that the USA is highest while Korea is lowest at the end, which are relevant main features. However, the overview is too general and includes inaccuracies: the USA begins at about 45%, not in 1970, and Korea, Canada and Italy do not all begin around 2000. The claim that Canada and Austria are stable at the end is also not well supported, as both rise overall in their final years. Several countries and useful comparisons are omitted, and figures such as 70% for the USA and 30% for Korea are below the approximate 2020 values. The response is also 17 words below the required minimum. Select key comparisons and report them accurately to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic overall shape: an introduction, an overview and further comments on the data. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “whereas” and “Afterward” show an attempt to connect ideas. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several observations are crowded into one paragraph, and the sequence shifts between starting dates, end values and general trends without clear grouping. The repeated use of “Overall” and the unclear phrase “some reached nearly 50 percent, other reached more than” weaken cohesion. Organise the report into distinct paragraphs for the overview and selected comparisons, and use clear references to countries and time periods so the reader can follow each point.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “percentage,” “highest,” “least,” “trend” and “stable,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, such as “overweight rates” where “proportions of people who were overweight” is clearer, and “Problem start early” for describing the beginning of a trend. “Counties” is a spelling error for “countries,” while “nearl” and “auward” also reduce accuracy. The unfinished comparison “other reached more than” leaves the intended meaning unclear. Build a more precise set of trend expressions, such as “rose steadily,” “remained relatively stable” and “stood at,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts a few different sentence patterns, including a comparison with “while” and a contrast using “whereas.” However, the range remains limited, and frequent errors make some sentences difficult to interpret. For example, “Overall, number are increases” has problems with articles, agreement and verb form; “Only Korea, Canada and italy it started later” has faulty word order and an unclear subject; and “trend in all these countries were” has subject–verb disagreement. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, particularly after commas and full stops. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with controlled comparisons, ensuring each sentence has a clear subject and correctly formed verb.
