Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify the general topic and make a relevant broad observation that rates rise in most countries, but the response reports very few accurate, specific features of the graph. The claim that the USA is highest is supported by the projection, yet the statement that figures are expected to reach “approximately 55–57%” is misleading: the USA and Australia are projected to reach about 74% and 64%, while several countries finish lower. The country list also repeats England and Austria and omits Australia in that list. The overview needs to compare the highest and lowest rates and describe the overall upward trend with accurate examples. The response is 133 words, below the 150-word minimum, and this limits the detail available to summarise the data.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is an attempt to separate the opening, overview and later comments into paragraphs, and the final sentence returns to the general trend. However, the ideas are not arranged into a clear progression from an accurate overview to selected comparisons. The second paragraph lists countries and years without explaining a meaningful pattern, while the third introduces “55–57%” without a clear reference to which countries this describes. Linking phrases such as “overall” and “regrading the other countries” are present, but they do not reliably connect the information. Organise the response into an introduction, a concise overview, and paragraphs comparing groups of countries, using clear references to the countries and time periods.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The response uses some task-related vocabulary, including “overweight rates,” “proportion,” “increases” and “rising,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is basic and repetitive, and several word choices or forms make the meaning unclear: “the past and project of country,” “different type of mark,” and “going day by day higher rates.” Spelling errors such as “diffrent,” “proportition,” “ecpected” and “graps” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise trend language and natural collocations rather than repeating “high” and “higher.” For example, describe rates as “increased steadily,” “fluctuated slightly,” or “were projected to rise,” and name the relevant country when making a comparison.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt several simple statements and a longer sentence with “as well as,” but sentence structures remain limited and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “It's start in 1970 to 2020,” where the verb form and time expression are incorrect, and “the most of the country going day by day higher rates,” which lacks a correctly formed verb phrase and has faulty agreement. The sentence beginning “overall, we can see” also runs several ideas together without clear sentence boundaries. Practise accurate subject–verb agreement, articles and plural forms, and use past or future forms consistently when describing the graph. Short, complete sentences with one clear comparison will help establish control before adding more complex structures.
