Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the broad pattern that the USA and England had the highest rates and Korea the lowest, and you include several relevant country comparisons. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it gives no clear account of the overall upward trend across most countries, and several descriptions are vague or incomplete. For example, “Canada and Spain were below 50 and then got high” does not explain their later levels or distinguish their trends. The USA’s starting point is also misreported: it was about 45%, not 50%. The final sentence about Austria and France is unfinished, and Italy is not meaningfully described. The response is also 34 words below the required minimum, limiting the detail provided. A complete overview and a few accurate, selected comparisons would strengthen the report.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the report, beginning with an introduction and an overview before moving to country details. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Initially,” and “Meanwhile” help signal relationships between points. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the country comparisons are compressed into one paragraph and do not follow a clear grouping or sequence. The transition “After that” is unclear, as it is not evident which country or period it refers to. The final section, “While, Austria and France were in middle,” is incomplete and leaves the reader without a finished comparison. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and grouped trends, and connect each comparison explicitly to its country and time period.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing data, including “percentage,” “proportion,” “increased gradually,” and “lowest.” This gives the response a basic range suited to the task, and the main topic is generally understandable. However, several choices are vague or unnatural, such as “top of the list,” “got high,” and “not too largr,” which do not describe the data precisely. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “approximatly,” “approximatley,” and “largr.” Repeating “increased” and “overweight rates” also limits variety. Practise accurate trend language and use terms such as “rose,” “reached,” and “remained” to report changes and endpoints more clearly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes some simple clauses and attempts a more complex comparison, for example, “Overall, the highest percentage … was in USA and after that England.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some relationships unclear. Examples include “with increased overweight started from 50%,” which lacks a grammatical structure for describing the change, and “Australia was a almost 35%,” where the sentence pattern is faulty. The final clause, “While, Austria and France were in middle,” is incomplete, and punctuation is inconsistent, including the missing space after “65%.” Build accurate sentences using patterns such as “The rate rose from X to Y” and check articles, verb forms, and sentence completion.
