Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the subject, time span and percentage measure, and you recognise the broad upward direction. However, the response gives only a limited account of the graph’s main features and does not provide supporting figures. The claim that every country rises steadily is too general: several series fluctuate, including Canada and Austria, while England also has small declines. The ranking is partly inaccurate: by 2020 the USA is highest, but England and Australia are close, and Spain and Canada are also around the mid-50s; the response presents a fixed order without explaining these differences. There is no clear overview of the contrast between the highest and lowest rates or the scale of change. Select key comparisons and support them with approximate percentages.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph describing the countries, and a concluding statement. The sequence from the USA to lower-ranked countries gives the reader a basic organising principle, and phrases such as “Then” and “In conclusion” signal progression. However, the body is largely a list of rankings rather than a developed comparison, and the conclusion repeats the general claim that rates rise. Some links are mechanical, especially the repeated “Then,” while “Now lets look at the data” is conversational rather than an effective transition in an academic report. Improve progression by grouping countries with similar levels or trends, then use comparisons such as “whereas” and “by contrast” to connect the evidence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant basic terms, including “proportion,” “percentage,” “trend” and “position,” so the topic is generally clear. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, particularly the repeated use of “overweight” and “growing.” Several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the weight is compared over year” and “gaining overweight of the people”; these make the description less clear. “Top 5 countries in overweight list” is also informal and does not accurately describe a measured rate. Aim for precise chart language and varied verbs, for example, describe rates as rising, increasing or fluctuating, and refer to countries as having the highest or lowest proportions. Check spelling, including “These,” and use standard capitalisation for country names.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most sentences use simple structures, and the reader can usually understand the intended meaning. However, errors occur frequently in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction. For example, “The picture show” needs subject–verb agreement, while “every countries overweight proportion is gradually increases” combines an incorrect plural form with an unnecessary verb ending. “The USA us always high” also contains a verb-form error, and “in 10 year of interval” has problems with number and article use. The response relies heavily on short statements and does not demonstrate much variety in complex sentence structures. Practise accurate comparisons using patterns such as “The rate in X rose from … to …, whereas …,” checking agreement and tense in each clause.
