Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the broad pattern that rates rose across the countries, and your overview correctly notes that the USA was highest and Korea lowest. However, some comparisons are inaccurate or too general. The USA is projected to reach about 74%, while England is around 69% and Australia about 64%; describing all three as having the “highest” rates is broadly relevant, but the ranking should be clearer. The claim that Austria, Italy and France reach “almost 55 percent” is inaccurate: their final figures are roughly 47%, 46% and 44%. Canada also does not show an overall decline after 1990; it fluctuates slightly before rising. Select the main trends more precisely and support them with accurate endpoint comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, country-group descriptions and a concluding statement. Grouping the USA, England and Australia together, then discussing lower-rate countries, gives the reader some useful organisation. However, progression is weakened by repeated country-by-country listing and several unclear links, such as “similarly followed by England” and “on the other side.” The conclusion repeats the overview rather than adding a useful synthesis. Some sentences also run together because punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, making comparisons harder to follow. Organise the body around clear groups or contrasting trends, and use linking phrases that show whether a figure is rising, fluctuating or remaining comparatively low.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing graphs, including “proportion,” “gradually,” “increase,” “decline” and “minor changes.” This gives you a basic range for reporting trends, but repetition of “overweight rates” and “shows” limits precision and flexibility. Several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, for example “exponentional growth” for a steady rise and “major changes” where you mean a substantial increase. Spelling errors such as “overwight,” “percernt,” “samw” and “comapre” are noticeable and can distract the reader. Build a more precise set of trend expressions and check spelling carefully; distinguish a gradual rise from a sharp one and use “rate” consistently when comparing countries.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, but control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Subject–verb agreement is a recurring issue: “all countries shows” should be “all countries show,” and “it gradually increase” should be “it gradually increases.” There are also problems with sentence construction and punctuation, as in “In 1970, USA rates were below 50 percent, after some decades it shows…”; this needs clearer clause boundaries and consistent tense. Missing articles and awkward plural forms also appear in phrases such as “USA has highest proportion.” Practise accurate past and future forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
