Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad upward trend and include several relevant countries, which gives the response a basic overview. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: the USA and England rise strongly, but Australia also increases substantially, while Austria, Italy, France and Korea do not all rise only slightly. Some details are misreported or unclear. For example, the USA falls from about 45% to 43% by 1980, then rises to roughly 74% by 2020; your account captures this general pattern but gives little context. England reaches about 69% by 2019, not 70% after “few 40 years.” Develop a clearer overview and select accurate comparisons across the highest and lowest rates.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, so there is some recognisable organisation. You also use linking expressions such as “Overall,” “However,” and “On the other hand.” Nevertheless, the progression within the detail paragraphs is difficult to follow: countries and time periods are introduced abruptly, and the second paragraph groups several unrelated trends without a clear organising principle. Some connectors do not show the intended relationship, and repeated sequencing phrases such as “To commence,” “Moreover,” and “Finally” make the writing feel mechanical. Group countries by comparable trends or rate levels, and use clear topic sentences and references so readers can follow each comparison.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You attempt a range of trend vocabulary, including “rose dramatically,” “decline,” “stable,” “fluctuation,” and “escalate.” This shows an effort to describe changes rather than simply list figures. However, word choice, collocation and spelling errors are frequent enough to make some descriptions difficult to interpret. Phrases such as “the figure rise slightly,” “begin to soar,” “meet at same point,” and “the figure fluctuation” are not used naturally or precisely. There are also misspellings, including “hoe,” “acounted,” and “gardually.” Choose standard graph language and check word forms and spelling; for example, use “increased gradually” or “remained stable” to describe the relevant trends.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to combine ideas using contrast and time clauses, as in “However, in 1980 it begin to soar till 2020,” but sentence structures are limited and many attempts at longer sentences are faulty. Verb forms and tense are often incorrect: “the USA rate initiate,” “it fall,” and “the figure rise” need past-tense forms for historical data. Agreement and sentence construction also cause problems, as in “the England from 47% being in 1990 after few 40 years tha rate rise 70%.” Capitalisation and punctuation are inconsistent, including the lowercase “in 1990” after a full stop and missing sentence-ending punctuation. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build shorter, complete sentences before adding complex clauses.
