Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the broad pattern that the USA is among the highest and Korea remains lowest, and you include several relevant country comparisons. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: Canada did not remain a leading country throughout, and the graph shows the USA highest by 2020, with England and Australia also rising substantially. Some reported details are misread: England begins at about 47% in the early 1990s, not 42%, and the USA starts at about 45% in 1972 rather than 1970. The discussion of Spain and Canada is vague, and the final point about Korea is unfinished. Select the clearest overall trends and support them with accurate, comparable figures across the period shown.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction and overview, then moves to country-specific details. However, the progression is difficult to follow because the overview is brief and the body groups countries without a clear comparison or consistent order. For example, the sentence about Spain and Canada combines their trends, although their starting points and changes differ, while the final Korea point stops before completing the comparison. Linking phrases such as “after 1980” help indicate sequence, but connections between ideas are often unclear. Use separate, logically ordered paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and ensure each paragraph develops a complete point with clear references to the countries and years.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt task-relevant vocabulary, including “projected,” “fluctuated,” “rapid increase,” and “percentage of population.” However, the range is limited and many spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “illutrate,” “slected,” “overwight,” and “enifrmly.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “overweight contribution” and “enhancement in number of … public” do not clearly describe rates. Use standard terms consistently, such as “proportion of people who were overweight,” “rose,” and “declined slightly.” Careful proofreading and more precise collocations would make your comparisons clearer and reduce the effort required of the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a time clause in “after 1980 USA recorded the rapid increase,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in articles, agreement, tense, and sentence construction occur frequently: “USA and Canada remained the leading nation” has a plural subject but singular noun, while “USA started hight to record” does not form a clear grammatical sentence. Several clauses are joined without reliable punctuation, and the final sentence is incomplete. These problems sometimes make the intended meaning hard to recover. Practise building accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add time clauses and comparisons. Check articles and plurals, and make sure every sentence has a complete main clause and appropriate punctuation.
