Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the broad pattern of rising rates and note that Korea is among the lowest, which gives the response a relevant overview. However, the overview is not consistently accurate: England and Australia are not the highest overall in 2020, as the USA reaches about 74% and England about 69%. The USA begins at roughly 45% in 1972, rather than 47% in 1970, and Austria ends near 46.5%, not 48%. Some comparisons are also incomplete: France and Korea are described as the lowest without explaining their approximate final figures, and the final sentence is unfinished. Select the clearest highs, lows and overall trends, then support them with accurate comparisons across the countries.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of country details. Linking phrases such as “Overall,” “By looking at the details in depth” and “Additionally” signal movement between sections. However, the progression within the detail paragraph is mostly a list of countries rather than a clear grouping or comparison, and some references are difficult to follow, as in “Canada marked about 54% overweight ratio until 2020.” The final sentence, “Korea remained the last in gr,” is incomplete and disrupts the ending. Organise the details into meaningful groups, such as the highest and lowest rates, and use clear comparisons to connect the figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing a graph, including “steady increase,” “gradual increase,” “proportions” and “fluctuations.” This shows an attempt to vary language, but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes obscure the intended meaning. For example, “USA is dominating in the group” is an awkward way to describe the highest rate, while “largest percentages of overweight” does not clearly identify the countries’ ranking. “Rapid oscillations” is also not supported by the relatively modest changes shown for Italy and France. There are spelling errors such as “percentge,” and the unfinished “gr” further affects clarity. Prefer precise, conventional graph language and check spelling and collocations carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You produce a mix of simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is often recoverable. However, errors in sentence construction and grammatical forms occur across the response. For example, “France and Korea are the represented the smallest” has an incorrect verb structure, while “USA experienced a steady rise in the percentge started with 47%” lacks a grammatical link between the trend and its starting point. The phrase “between1980-2020” also uses an unclear time construction, and “Canada marked about 54% overweight ratio” is not formed naturally as a complete comparison. The final sentence is incomplete. Practise building accurate sentences with “rose from … to …,” “stood at …,” and “while,” and proofread each sentence for a complete clause.
