Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the countries and mention several relevant trends, including the USA reaching about 75% and Canada ending near 55%. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it lacks a clear overview of the main pattern across the countries and gives little accurate comparison of their relative rates. Several descriptions misread the data. Austria does not show a sudden decline through to 2020; it rises overall to about 46.5%. Spain increases overall rather than declining around 2000 and then continuing its route, and Korea rises from about 25% to 35%, with only a small dip around 2008. France also rises, rather than remaining largely unchanged. Focus on the overall upward trend, the highest and lowest countries, and a few accurate comparisons.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some attempt to organise the information through a sequence of country descriptions, using markers such as “Secondly” and “Nextly.” This gives the reader a basic sense that you are moving between features. However, the response has no clear paragraph structure or overall progression from an introduction to an overview and then supporting details. Several ideas run together, and the country-by-country sequence does not establish which trends are most important. Connections such as “where” and “and then” are repetitive or unclear, making relationships between points difficult to follow. Grouping countries by high, middle and low rates, and using separate paragraphs for the overview and comparisons, would make the information more coherent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate basic graph information, with useful terms such as “increase,” “decline,” “proportion” and “percentage.” However, the range is limited and some choices are inaccurate or awkward, which reduces precision. For example, “continous its route” does not clearly describe a trend, while “Nextly” is not a natural sequencing expression. “Slightly unchanged” is also an unclear way to describe France’s upward movement. Spelling errors such as “continous” and “infonnation” further affect the presentation. Build a more precise set of trend expressions, including “rose steadily,” “fluctuated slightly” and “remained relatively stable,” and use them only when they match the data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to form connected sentences and use some time expressions, but the range of sentence structures is limited and errors occur frequently. The opening, “The below charts illustrates,” has a subject–verb agreement error and an incorrect article/word order; the graph is singular. Several clauses are joined without clear punctuation, as in “where there is a continous increase in USA all these years and reaches around 75 percentage.” Tense and sentence construction are also problematic in “Austria started from the year 1980 … and then increases.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, consistent past tense for historical data, and punctuation between separate comparisons.
