Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify two relevant broad features: the USA is among the highest, while Korea is the lowest, and you attempt to describe changes over time. However, the overview is incomplete because it does not summarise the general upward pattern across most countries or distinguish the countries’ different levels. Several figures are misplaced or inaccurate: for example, the USA was about 45% in 1972, not 43%, and its rate was around 69% in 2010, not 70% alongside England as stated. The 1990 figures are also assigned to countries whose data begin later. These errors and the limited selection of clearly supported comparisons mean the task is only partially addressed. Prioritise accurate key stages and comparisons rather than listing many figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and two body sections. Time markers such as “in 2010” and “In last year” help the reader recognise the intended chronology, and “Furthermore” signals an addition. However, the progression is difficult to follow because figures and country names are crowded together, and the first body paragraph jumps between 1970, 1990, and an unspecified later period. The final paragraph also moves among countries without a consistent comparison pattern. Some linking words are used mechanically, while punctuation around “whereas” and the lists does not clarify relationships. Grouping countries by high, middle, and low rates, then comparing their endpoints, would create a clearer progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “upward trend,” “rates,” and “increases,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several expressions are unnatural or repetitive: “overweight rates in past and present and future overweight” and “the USA weights” do not describe the data precisely. “Distinct nine kinds of nations” is also an awkward way to refer to the selected countries. Spelling errors such as “Austraslia,” “weoights,” and “neraly” reduce accuracy, while repeated use of “weights” makes the report less clear. Choose standard chart language such as “proportion of people who were overweight” and vary verbs carefully, for example “rose,” “increased,” or “stood at.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a comparison with “whereas,” but control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in phrases such as “the USA weights was” and “the weights was increase”; these should be framed as “the rate was” or “rates increased.” Tense and sentence boundaries are also unreliable, as in “Im 1970, the USA weights was 43% in 1970 and korea was 25%,” where the year is repeated and the sentence needs clearer punctuation. Lists often lack grammatical framing, making it hard to see which figures belong to which countries. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons in complete sentences with a clear subject and verb.
