Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You identify a broad contrast between the highest and lowest countries, which is relevant, but the main features are not reported accurately or clearly enough. The USA is correctly identified as the highest, although its projected rate is about 74%, not 70%. Korea is the lowest, but its 2019 rate is about 35%, rather than 28%. Several other figures and country comparisons are also misread: Australia is around 64% in 2020, not 32%, and Spain is about 55%, not 35%. The claim that rates decrease is unsupported; most countries rise overall. A clearer overview of the general upward trend, followed by accurate comparisons across the countries, would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has separate paragraphs and attempts to group countries, so there is some basic organisation. However, the progression is difficult to follow because countries are introduced in a loose sequence without a clear organising principle, and comparisons are often unclear. For example, “The next country is Australia” is followed by a rate that appears to belong to another country, while “These country overwieght are decrease than italy” does not make the intended comparison clear. Repeated openings such as “The next country” and frequent use of “And” make the linking mechanical. Grouping countries by high, middle and low rates, and using clear comparison phrases such as “whereas” or “by contrast,” would improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use a small set of task-related terms, including “percentage,” “rates,” “peak point” and “lowest,” which helps convey the general subject. However, vocabulary is repetitive and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning difficult to interpret. “Overweights” is not the natural term for the chart’s measure; use “proportion of people who were overweight” or “overweight rate.” Phrases such as “the peak point is USA” and “the percentage is low than” are also unnatural. There are spelling errors, including “overwieght,” “korea” and “canada.” More precise trend vocabulary—such as “rose,” “remained stable” and “was projected to reach”—would help describe the data.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts simple statements and a few linking structures, but sentence forms are limited and errors occur throughout. Subject–verb agreement is often incorrect, as in “The line graph illustrate” and “the rates is”; articles and sentence construction are also problematic in “the peak point is USA.” Several clauses are joined with “And” or left as fragments, which makes relationships between ideas unclear. Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, including missing spaces after commas and a full stop separated from the preceding sentence. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, for example, “The USA had the highest rate, which is projected to reach about 74% by 2020.”
