Summarise the infonnation by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
Past and projected future overweight rates in selected OECD countries
Student answer (Band 5.0)
The diagram represents the percentage of past and future of nine different overweight countries during five decades. The graph clearly shows increase in overall trend of most countries, including USA and Canada from year 1970 to 2019,approximately.
In 1972, Usa had highest rate of overweight population which was round about 47 percentage that increased to more than 70% in 2018.England was ranked at second highest in the graph, peaking it's percentage at 70% in 2019. Canada and Spain had same rate in 2000s. While France projected the most flucturating trend from year 1990 to 2019.Italy was slightly above than the France in high proportins pf weight list, which peaked at 42%, which was 1-2 percentage less than Austrailia in the same period.
Korea's rate was less than 40% from 1900s to 2018,which was lowest compared to all other countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the broad pattern of rising overweight rates and note that Korea remains the lowest, which are relevant features. However, the response only partially summarises the graph: it gives no clear overview of the overall ranking or the contrast between the highest and lowest countries, and several comparisons are inaccurate or unclear. For example, the USA begins at about 45%, not 47%, and reaches roughly 74% by 2020; England ends near 69%, rather than peaking at 70%. The claim that Italy was above France is not supported: France is higher in the later years. The statement that France fluctuated most is also misleading, as its overall trend rises. The response is 11 words below the required minimum. Select a few accurate comparisons and support them with approximate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic progression: it introduces the general trend, then discusses several countries, and ends with Korea. Linking expressions such as “While” and “which” show an attempt to connect information. However, the organisation is difficult to follow because several comparisons are compressed into one paragraph, and the relationships between countries are not always clear. For instance, “Canada and Spain had same rate in 2000s” is not tied to a specific year or figure, while the sentence about Italy, France and Austria combines several claims without a clear sequence. Use separate paragraphs for the overview and key comparisons, and group countries by high, middle and low rates. More precise referencing and fewer chained clauses would make the progression clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant graph vocabulary, including “percentage,” “rate,” “peaking” and “trend,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which makes parts of the report hard to interpret. “Nine different overweight countries” incorrectly describes the countries, and “high proportins pf weight list” is not a natural way to describe the data. There are also spelling errors such as “flucturating” and “Austrailia.” Aim for precise terms such as “overweight rate,” “proportion of the population” and “rose steadily.” Check spelling carefully and avoid informal or unclear phrases such as “round about.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences, including a comparison beginning “While France…” and a relative clause in “which peaked at 42%.” However, the range is limited, and errors in sentence construction and punctuation occur often enough to affect clarity. For example, “The graph clearly shows increase in overall trend” is missing an article and has an awkward grammatical structure; “peaking it's percentage” uses an incorrect possessive form; and “which was 1-2 percentage less” has problems with number agreement and clause reference. Several sentences also run together without spaces after full stops, as in “2018.England.” Use shorter, complete sentences, check articles and singular/plural forms, and punctuate country comparisons clearly.
