Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you completely agree that science should improve people’s lives, and you give relevant reasons involving health, communication and education. The examples of COVID-19 vaccines and students using online resources help connect your points to real situations. However, the ideas are only briefly explained: for instance, you mention treatment for several illnesses but do not explain how this illustrates science’s wider priorities. The conclusion repeats the main claim rather than drawing the reasons together, and the final sentence repeats an earlier idea. The response also does not meet the required 250-word minimum, so there is limited space to develop the argument. Extend each main point with explanation and a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs signalled by “First of all” and “Secondly,” and a conclusion. This makes the main line of argument easy to identify. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt, and links between claims and examples are not always clear. For example, the communication point moves quickly from mobile phones to online classes and then to your village without explaining the connection in detail. The conclusion repeats the claim that science improves lives and adds another version of the opening statement. Use clearer links between each reason, its explanation and its example, and avoid repeating the same point at the end.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “scientific research,” “vaccines,” “online classes” and “dangerous disease.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling and collocation errors make parts of the response less natural or occasionally difficult to understand. Examples include “life expect” for “life expectancy,” “scientific made vaccines” and “communication and education vert easily.” Some key words, such as “life” and “science,” are repeated frequently. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for health, technology and education, and check spelling and word forms before submitting. More precise vocabulary will make your examples clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally follow your main argument. However, the range of structures is limited, and errors occur frequently in basic sentence formation, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation. For example, “Science is plays” combines incompatible verb forms, while “mobile phone and internet invention people can to talk” lacks a clear grammatical structure. In “This show that science has saved many lives,” the subject and verb do not agree. Sentence boundaries and spacing after full stops are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses using forms such as “because” and “which.”
