Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 139 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you state a clear position in the introduction, the body paragraphs are underdeveloped and the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, you must ensure you fully expand on your arguments with specific examples and logical reasoning, and you must complete the essay structure. The current length prevents a full exploration of the topic, which significantly impacts your score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses some basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', but the overall structure is fragmented due to the incomplete nature of the response. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is cut off, which disrupts the logical flow. The progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of sufficient content. To improve, focus on developing each paragraph with a clear topic sentence, supporting evidence, and a concluding thought before moving to the next point.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'good idea' and 'digitalize' (which is used incorrectly here). There is little evidence of less common lexical items or precise collocations. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary related to the topic of science and society, and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form and context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('science and technology helps', 'robots helps') and incorrect punctuation (spaces before commas). The range of sentence structures is quite narrow, relying mostly on simple or compound sentences. To improve, practice using a wider variety of complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and pay closer attention to basic subject-verb agreement and punctuation rules.
