Student answer (Band 6.5)

There is no denying the fact that science has evolved to an unimaginable extent carrying its own advantages as well as disadvantages. People usually question, in what ways the growth of science is equally proportionate to improvement in their lives.

In todays' evolution, science play an important role supporting the optimization of technology encountered among people. In contrast, it is expected that there is no stopping in the growth of technology and it is fully funded by science itself. But, at what extent is science improving people's lives is an interesting topic to debate.

Science is enhancing its value by enough contribution to technology and growth and evolution. I agree the fact that, science should be focusing more on contributing for improvement in peoples' lives. There should be a survey to analyze peoples' requirements, their comforts and ideology, through this study it make a clear blueprint of peoples' expectations related to science. In contrast, people require automated robots, transportations and support systems that guide them enough to be in the right path of their success. People mostly expect the relaxation for their minds when there are automated accessories to work for them.

Example : Automated cars require no drivers so that people just relax at their backseats, machines that complete their tasks by just a single instruction and many more of the comforts relatively.

This could be only done using a proper technology that is supported by science and ideology. Science should be used in such a way that it somehow elaborates its capabilities, optimize its performance and aim to improve peoples' lives.

In conclusion, Science is an essential aspect required for the technology and improving peoples' standard of living with generating newer ideas resulting in growth and satisfaction.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of science in improving lives, but the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you state your agreement, the supporting arguments—such as the mention of automated cars—are brief and lack depth. The essay tends to repeat the idea that science should improve lives without fully exploring the 'extent' of this agreement or considering counter-arguments. To improve, ensure each body paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-explained reason that directly supports your thesis, providing more detailed examples to illustrate your points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition 'In contrast' is used twice, but it does not always logically connect the preceding and following ideas effectively. The use of cohesive devices is present but can feel repetitive or slightly forced. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each sentence builds naturally upon the previous one, creating a smoother progression of thought.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'optimization', 'ideology', and 'capabilities'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'science play an important role' (should be 'plays') and 'relaxation for their minds'. Some expressions are slightly unnatural, which limits the precision of your argument. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensure that you use words in contexts that are standard in academic English. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic terminology will also help.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('science play') and pluralization ('peoples' requirements'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, such as the unnecessary apostrophe in 'todays''. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, pay closer attention to basic grammatical rules, especially verb endings and plural forms, and proofread your work to catch these minor but persistent errors.
