Student answer (Band 7.0)
Science plays a crucial role in human lives. The paramount goal of science is to enhance people's well being. I firmly agree with this statement due to its contribution to multi-sectoral advancements in vital areas like agriculture, transportation, and healthcare.
First and foremost, scientific developments significantly improve people's lives. This is because, it enables doctors to find the severe diseases in patient's body by using nanobots, allowing patients to get expanded lifespan and physical well being. Moreover, scientific advancements introduce modernised agricultural by increasing food production through deep research that contributes to fulfil demand for food satisfaction. For example, agricultural researchers enhance soil fertility and distribute high-yielding seeds to mitigate food shortages, which ultimately secures citizens well-being and strengthens the national economy. Consequently, they attain the status of a developing country.
In addition to advancements in medical and agricultural. Scientific innovations have significantly transformed the transportation sector. It means that transportation sector introduced people with super fast travelling, which saves their time and helps to feel safer. Moreover, not only people do faster travelling but also communicate instantly on their smartphones. For instance, a few decades ago, people were not able to communicate instantly, they had to wait for a long time to communicate with their relatives, who lived far away from them. There was only one way to communicate with them, which was sending email by post office. But, today's technology enables people not only communicates instantly but also seek entertainments through their smartphones. Although excessive engaging with smartphones cause several health complications such as headache.
To conclude, I undoubtedly advocate this view just because of its various positive aspects, and science has an important potential to enhance people's lives. By focusing on medical, technological, and agricultural, science can continue to improve the quality of life for all.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, particularly the focus on healthcare, agriculture, and communication. However, some points are slightly under-developed; for instance, the transition from agricultural research to the 'status of a developing country' is a bit abrupt and lacks a clear logical link. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and reaffirms the stance. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting example is fully explained to show how it directly relates to the improvement of human lives.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. There is a progression of ideas from medical to agricultural to technological advancements. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First and foremost,' 'Moreover,' and 'In addition to,' though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where sentence structure impacts flow, such as the fragment 'In addition to advancements in medical and agricultural.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that sentences are complete would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific terminology like 'nanobots,' 'high-yielding seeds,' and 'multi-sectoral.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'modernised agricultural' (should be 'modernised agriculture') and 'seek entertainments' (should be 'seek entertainment'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the score. Using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would help elevate the lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('excessive engaging... cause') and punctuation errors, such as the comma splice in 'This is because, it enables...' and the sentence fragment mentioned earlier. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevent a higher score. Focusing on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly will significantly improve the accuracy of the writing.
