Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of science in communication and industry, but it fails to fully develop a clear position on the extent of agreement. The essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments provided. While the ideas are relevant, they are presented in a somewhat list-like fashion without sufficient elaboration or a concluding summary that synthesizes the argument. The mention of 'demerits' is brief and lacks a clear connection to the main thesis, resulting in an underdeveloped response that does not fully explore the complexities of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay uses basic paragraphing to separate ideas, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as 'With of these merits' or 'In some cases bird such as eagles'. The progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the transition between the benefits of technology and the brief mention of its risks. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly', the overall flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of sophisticated logical connectors between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors and non-standard collocations, such as 'livelihood of our life is convenience' and 'narrowing the globes'. The student relies on simple, repetitive language and struggles to express more abstract concepts clearly. While the meaning is generally understandable, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation (e.g., 'every sectors boosting up') limit the score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but these are frequently marred by grammatical errors. Issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Todays generation are dependent'), article usage, and sentence fragments are common. For instance, 'Science revolutionize the todays world' contains both a verb tense error and an unnecessary article. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate a lack of control over complex sentence forms.
